| Qrio Throws Like a Girl |
| Thursday, January 19, 2006 |
Qrio, Sony's flagship robot, has been busy. In May he enrolled in a California nursery school and avoided mangling the children with his robot strength. In March he conducted the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and butchered Beethoven. Now Sony is announcing that he can run at a rate of 15 yards per minute and throw a light ball four yards.
So, if one of these fine evenings, you awake to the sound of a brick crashing through your window and look out to see a group of cackling, dancing robots slowly escaping into the night, Qrio is your most likely suspect.
But if you're worried about Qrio stealing your job just like he stole your heart, worry no more. Toshi Doi, one of Sony's executive vice presidents, said: "It's not useful. Sony doesn't make useful robots. Sony makes robots that entertain."Labels: robots |
