    Friday, February 17, 2006
If this blog has a point, and I'm not saying that it does, it might be that Earth in 2006 is stranger than even the best science fiction writers can imagine. It's dystopian and utopian, full of techs and primitives. It's a rich, bizarre, horrible and wonderful place to be. There is no way to write about all of it. SF can concentrate upon one aspect or another but it does so to the detriment of everything else.

This story, which I found on William Gibson's blog, which came to him via Bruce Sterling, illustrates the point perfectly. Scientists built a Phillip K. Dick android. Fine. That's odd enough. But now that robot has vanished. So things are even better.

So, here we are; It's 2006 and somewhere out there, a Philip K. Dick android is on the loose . And someone is looking for him. I don't know about you but that makes my day.
